Warm up for your Saturday morning meditation practice with a period of mindful yoga. Two members of our sangha, Heather Johnstone and Peter Ruggiero, will alternate leading the yoga classes, which will run from 8:50 to 9:20 AM each Saturday. Peter teaches on the 1st and 3rd Saturdays of the month, and Heather teaches on the 2nd and 4th Saturdays. Peter and Heather are offering these classes on the basis of a freewill offering, with the proceeds going to the Meditation Center.

Peter is a certified yoga instructor, and teaches a vinyasa class. He describes his class as emphasizing a balance of both strength and flexibility through the use of connected movements that help to build endurance. The class is a gentle class meant to prepare participants for the meditation which follows directly, as well as to introduce the sangha to the style.

Heather Johnstone is also a certified instructor and teaches very gentle, mindful yoga that is appropriate for all levels, including those with injuries and those who choose to remain seated. She taught yoga for the Mindfulness-based Stress Reduction Program in Newburyport, and has been meditating for ten years. Heather describes her class as a focus on moment-to-moment sensations in gentle poses and breath work, easing the transition to meditation by helping calm the body and mind.

Participants are urged to wear loose, comfortable clothing.
